Why should I use a Rhubarb tag?

The Rhubarb tag is a visual reminder to check in with your app. Think of Rhubarb as citizen science in action. By keeping your garden activity up to date and sharing what is happening in your garden with pest reports, etc., you will help us learn more about the hyper-local areas that are not reflected in the standard zone models.

As Rhubarb & Ruby get smarter the insights and advice will become more helpful and relevant to you and your community.

Use the tag as a shortcut to a garden, watering a garden, harvesting a garden, or a group page. Tap and go!

Hello, welcome to Rhubarb.

Can I schedule tasks in my garden?

We don't have this option yet. We are adding this feature for paid subscriptions in the future.

Can I use Rhubarb for flowers, shrubs, or houseplants?

Our focus is on supporting gardeners growing food at home.

There is nothing preventing you from using Rhubarb for plants that are not vegetables, fruits, or herbs. In fact, many people plant different types of plants to attract helpful insects, pollinators and so on.

You can create Custom Plants in the Plants section of your garden.

Can I change the plant images to photos?

You cannot change the images in your Plants section. You can add photos of your plants by adding a note.

To add a note go to the Activity tab for your garden and use the text box at the bottom of the screen. This will give you the option to add a photo from your gallery or take a photo.

Can I customize watering reminders?

Currently you can receive reminders to water your garden weekly or every 3 days. We will be adding more choices for watering reminders and updating our paid version to include a custom reminder option.

Why are there only 45 plants to choose from?

We want to encourage people of all experience levels to grow food at home. With many plant varieties available, it can be overwhelming, especially for beginners. To simplify this, we selected the most popular fruits and vegetables as a starting point and included a field for naming each plant. This field can be used in any way you find helpful, whether it's naming your tomato plant "Bob" or "Betty," or specifying a particular variety. We've also added an area for making notes as you add each plant. Additionally, there's always the Custom Plant option for more flexibility.

We will continue to add more plants as we grow and discover new favorites. You can also request specific plants via this form - Rhubarb Feedback

How can I share a garden with other people?

To share your garden, follow these steps:

  1. Open the garden you wish to share.

  2. Make sure you have added at least 1 plant to your garden.

  3. In the upper right corner, tap the Cog icon to open a dropdown menu.

  4. Select "Garden Access" from the menu.

  5. A list of your connections will appear. Tap the checkmark next to the names you want to share your garden with. When the checkmark turns green, it means the person is selected. You can select up to 10 connections.

  6. After making your selections, tap the red "Set Access" button at the bottom of the screen.

  7. You will receive a notification that your garden was successfully shared. The person you shared it with will also receive a notification and gain immediate access without needing to accept an invite.

  8. To remove someone’s access, repeat the process and unselect the person by tapping the checkmark next to their name, which will revert to gray.

Can I follow other gardeners?

To connect with other gardeners, you need to send a connection request, which they must accept. Once connected, you can send direct messages, invite them to groups, and give them permission to interact with your garden. Here’s how to connect:

1. From a Profile: - Tap on the profile picture of another gardener to go to their profile. - Select "Connect" and wait for their response.

2. From the Connect Section: - Go to the Connect section of Rhubarb by tapping the text bubble icon on the far right of the bottom navigation bar. - Select "Discover" to scroll through different profiles and find others to connect with.

Once connected, you can easily interact and collaborate with fellow gardeners.

How can I search for another user?

We are will be releasing Search in the next few weeks. The best way to find another user right now is to look for their posts in the feed, find them in the Meet other gardeners scroll on top of the Home Feed, or go to Connect and scroll through the profiles of other gardeners.
